THE NAME OF YAHWEH Shua

Is calling on the name of the Creator important?  “The Lord” and “God” are not names, they are generic titles.

This is what scripture tells us:

Joel 2:32:

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of YAHWEH shall be delivered.

Now if you look in your King James Bible, it does not say YAHWEH but “the Lord”.  However, when you look at the Hebrew, you will find the tetragrammaton, or four Hebrew letters, yod he wah he, which is His name.

Should you wish to follow the guidance of the prophet Joel, make sure you know and use the correct name.  The Creator’s name is YAHWEH.

Note that Peter and Paul quote this same passage.   You’ll find this in Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13.  These two witnesses support the prophet Joel.  This formula is given to us in Matthew 18:16 which says “in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established”.

Why is this important? In John 14:13 the Messiah (in Hebrew; Christ in Greek), provides this guidance:  “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do…” Verse 14 further states “if ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it”.  Therefore you need to know His name to ensure that he hears that request.

We don’t pray to YahwehShua but to the Father.  John 15:16 says, “whatsoever, ye ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you.”

Messiah gave us a template for prayer in Matthew 6:9 “Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name…” It is important to know the true name of the Father, but also His Son, YahwehShua.

Many believe that Jesus is the correct name of the Son.  However, there is no “J” in the Hebrew, the original language the Messiah grew up with.  Besides the name “Jesus” did not exist before the 17th century.

Many students of the Hebrew Scriptures recognize that the name of the Messiah was YAHSHUA. The name was foretold in the book of Zechariah and is the same name as the assistant to Moses, Yahshua.

The name, Yahshua, was given to Him at birth.  We call this His prophetic name.  This name is found in the prophecy found in the book of Zechariah.

But today we call him YahwehShua.  Why do we do this?

An overlooked passage is Deuteronomy 29:20 gives us an insight:  YAHWEH [not the LORD as found in the KJV] will not spare him, but then the anger of YAHWEH and his jealousy shall smote against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him , and YAHWEH SHALL BLOT OUT HIS NAME UNDER HEAVEN.

Have you ever noticed this? I never had.  I guess I just read over it and never questioned it.  It was not until a brother pointed it out to me that I started to study this more in depth.

If scriptures have value to you, it is important you take note of this passage in Deuteronomy.  Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3: 15-16 that, “The holy scriptures are able to make us wise unto salvation”.  He also explains that these same scriptures are profitable for doctrine in reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

These scriptures are important to pay attention to just as the names of the Father and Son are very important.  Let’s continue. Other scriptures also reference this concept of having your name blotted out:

Exodus 32:33:

And YAHWEH said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Psalms 69:28:

Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

Revelation 3:5:

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life.

Revelation 13:8:

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 17:8:

…whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 20:12

And I saw the dead, small and great stand before [the throne]; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life:

Revelation 21:27:

And there shall in on wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22:19:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, YAHWEH shall take away his part out of the book of life.

These are very significant scriptures. We learn that only those who die in sin have their names blotted out.  Mankind did not die in sin; only Messiah, our Savior, died in sin. 1 John 1:7 tells us that Messiah “ cleanseth us from ALL SIN”, and again in 1 John3:5 : “He was manifested to take away our sins…”  Therefore all humans do not have their names blotted out are because Messiah took all sin upon himself.  By doing this only He had His name blotted out.

What name was blotted out?  It would have to be the name He had at the time of his death, Yahshua. His human, prophetic name, Yahshua, identifies His blood that was poured out after He died. (John 19: 33-34).

The name Yahshua had all the sin of mankind attached to it.  This name is defiled and could not be presented to YAHWEH the Father.  We cannot pray in this name, but Messiah said we should ask in His name.  What name?

He lost His human name, so what name does He now have?  He had to have inherited a new name.  Is there a scripture that indicates this? YES!  Hebrews 1:4 says this: “Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath BY INHERITANCE obtained a more excellent name than they.”

The Messiah inherited a more excellent name.  What name is, “more excellent?”  We learn this in Psalm 148:13; “Let them praise the name of YAHWEH: for his name ALONE is excellent.”

In John 5:43, Messiah says:  “I am come in my Father’s name [YAHWEH]”. The Son’s name includes the name of YAHWEH. But where does “shua” come from? In Hebrew, shua means savior, and He is often called savior in the scriptures.  The Son is Yahweh Savior, hence, YAHWEHSHUA.  This is the name we call on, not the name of sin, Yahshua.

Are there other examples in the scriptures where the name of YAHWEH was combined to render a meaningful suffix or identifier? Yes, see below:

YAHHWEH ROI                       my shepherd                         Psalms 23:1

YAHWEHSHUA, our Savior, is not found in the scriptures. This is a revealed name.  The High Priest blotted out the inherited name and YAHWEH blotted out the prophetic or human name. Yet, we find the human name in the scriptures.  This tells us which name was blotted out by the High Priest due to the charge of blasphemy as alleged by the High Priest.

We are told in John 6:44 that, “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:” Messiah revealed the Father’s name in the scriptures.  However, the Son’s name is not revealed in the scriptures.  The Father reveals this name only to those who are called and chosen.
